1.1　InDesignスニペット（.idmsファイル）

InDesignスニペットとしてページコンテンツを書き出すとき、InDesignでは、そのページにあるすべてのスタイル、カラー、レイヤーおよびInDesignドキュメントに再度読み込まれるときに完全に再現させるために必要な他のエレメントを含む、単一のXMLファイルが作られます。

InDesignスニペットはInDesignのライブラリ機能としても使われます。ライブラリアイテム自体もInDesignスニペットです。

InDesignスニペットをInDesignドキュメントに配置（読み込み）するとき、InDesignは、スニペットで指定されているフォーマットと、ドキュメント自身の持つフォーマットに基づいた様々な判断を行います。例えば、スニペットで使われているカラーがすでにInDesignドキュメントにあると、ドキュメントのカラー定義がスニペットに割り当てられます。この判断は、カラーの名前に基づいています。しかし、ドキュメントにそのカラーがないときは、スニペットファイルにあるカラー定義がドキュメントに追加され、スニペットに割り当てられます。

InDesignスニペットファイルには、IDMLファイルにもある<Spread>や<Story>エレメントが含まれ、それらのエレメントにはさらに<ParagraphStyle>や<CharacterStyle>、<Color>などのエレメントが必要に応じて含まれています。InDesignスニペットファイルにはプリファレンスやデフォルトのエレメントはほとんどありません。下記の表は、InDesignスニペットでのポイントです。

テキストフレームとストーリー スニペット書き出し時にすべてのストーリーのフレームが選択されていると、テキストコンテンツ、注釈、表などを含むストーリー全部が、<Story>エレメントの子エレメントとして書き出されます。部分的にフレームを選択すると、選択されたフレームのみが書き出されます。テキストコンテンツ、注釈、表などのテキストフレーム内にあるものは、<TextFrame>エレメントの子エレメントになります。
ハイパーリンクソース 書き出すページオブジェクトにハイパーリンクソースがあると、書き出されます。
ハイパーリンク先 書き出すページオブジェクトにハイパーリンク先があると、書き出されます。
ハイパーリンク先ページ 書き出されません。
ハイパーリンク 関連付けられたハイパーリンクソースが書き出されると、ハイパーリンクが書き出されます。ハイパーリンク先自身が書き出されないと、参照先がなくなります。
ブックマーク 関連付けられたハイパーリンク先が書き出されると、ブックマークが書き出されます。
XML要素 親要素（エレメント、処理命令、コメントなど）が書き出されないと、XML要素のStoryOffset属性が削除されます。従って、InDesignにスニペットを配置すると、XML要素はルートのXMLエレメントの最後の子エレメントとして追加されます。

下記は、単純な長方形を含むInDesignスニペットファイルの例です。（サムネイルのイメージデータは容量を抑えるため削除されています）
